Health Issues

Postby admin » Mon Aug 03, 2009 8:55 pm

Stinky, ‘rotten egg’ smell, itchy, irritated eyes and skin, breathing difficulties, persistent runny or bloody noses, numerous headaches, sinus infection, and asthma attacks are the major reported symptoms to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). Some consumers claim these maladies lessen or disappear when they vacate their house, but reappear once they return home. Many are understandably concerned about long term effects.
Toss in questionable radioactive industrial waste contamination and pets dying. If only the toxic materials and corrosion could be removed and replaced. But many experts speculate the only solution is to bulldoze the dream home. How far will pestilent dust particles travel through the air? What about our lakes, rivers, and soil? Scary stuff.

After living in a Chinese Drywall home for 2.5 years and inspecting countless others I have developed a chemical sensitivity to the gases found in these houses. I've been to the emergency room three times with extreme lower abdominal pain and unexplainable lung diffusions. The doctors were not able to connect any of the symptoms with any disease or physical problem. My wife experienced similar issues (though not as intense) when we moved furniture from our home into a rental property. I challenge these politicians and so called health experts that are denying any health effects to live in a house with defective drywall themselves. I think we'd hear a different tune soon after. I now where a respirator whenever entering a suspected "chinese drywall" home. Be careful out there folks. This stuff is dangerous.

I found out that the home I'm renting is full of defective drywall, we are under a lease and if we leave we stand to loose our security deposit. I have become ill with some of the symtoms, head aches , blood in sinsus drainage etc. Is there any real proof this stuff will cause health problems ?

I wish we could learn more about these health effects. I am the mother of a now 3 year old but we moved into what we call the 'sick' house when he was 5 months old. He has had so many health issues, too many to list here, but I am confident that these issues are directly related to the drywall. We moved out in May of 2009 and except for one remaining blood issue, he is back to normal. Are there any other moms out there with similar situations? I would be glad to discuss my little boy's situation in more detail provided someone is listening.

we rented a home that had it. we didnt know it at first but we couldnt figure out why we kept getting sick. from colds to bronkitus and then asthma even our dog was sick and our land lord would not let us out of lease . we was apart of the class action law suit til today when we found out that they needed to get back in the home for an inspection per judge but the landlord in feburary had the home started to be repaired and all chinese drywall has been taken out so needles to say our laywer dropped us being we dont have any proof anymore. so here we are with health problems we didnt have before and $15k in property damage from furniture ,electronics , pots and pans and jewlery that we can not replace because we dont have the money and had to through out .

Since we moved into this house last summer, my husband and I have been experiencing throat and lung irritation, sinus drainage, particularly when it is humid. Our baby, seams fine, although he is too small to tell us if his throat or lung hurts, he cough. We had ruled out mold, asbestos, combustion gases, VOC's. We couldn't find the cause of our problem, we moved out, paying a rental plus our mortgage.

Portion of the basement was redone, so I decided to sample the drywall, just in case. It turns out that some of the drywalls test positive for Chinese drywall. The area contaminated is small, I'm wondering if the corrosive gases could have been the source of our health issues, even in small amount. Could the corrosive gases react with other material in the house (built in 1950) generating other toxic gases, some sort of chain reaction? Any other people with chinese drywall in small amount the house?

My brother is a drywall hanger and finisher. He recently contracted a flesh eating bacteria. He is at John Hopkins as I write this with a serious infection in his right arm. I am wondering if this chinese drywall could be the cause. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.
